Depression, after bereavement.
In the nine months since www.wordscanhelp.co.uk my non-commercial and anonymous website was put on to the internet there have been over two thousand unique visitors and the site has received 13 thousand hits.
The site, was written in an attempt to help those suffering the pain that follows soon after bereavement. It is an attempt to let those that have lost a loved one know that they are not alone, that their actions and feelings are a normal reaction, but, even more importantly, to try to help family and friends understand the actions of the bereaved person.
The response to the site by e-mail has let me know that the site has helped very many people and is continuing to do so. The site is privately paid for and has no advertising, there is nothing to buy, and no record is retained of visitors to the site, no e-mail numbers are retained, it is free to enter a memorium to a loved one if the visitor to the site wishes.
The problem is, and always will be, making contact with those that it will help, and my thanks go to many websites, such as, www.spiraluniverse.org www.peasy.co.uk www.yahoogroups. www.blogger. www.gumtree. www.webmd. www.eastrenfrewshire. all have allowed me to mention the site on their sites.
The site will, I hope, help those in the first few months of their pain, but, there are many that continue to find that they are unable to discover that closure, long term grieving can easily turn to depression, and, depression can be very dangerous. I know of sites that may help, places where professional counsellors will personally give advice that is free and anonymous, sites that have very many visitors that will also try to help with advice through their forums, www.beyondindigo.com and www.merrywidow.me.uk are two such sites, please don't hesitate to visit these sites, read the forums, they are helping.
All of the sites that I have mentioned are free, they ask for nothing but to try and help you, or, for you to help someone else, they will confirm that you are not alone with your pain, that there are others out there that want to help and talk through the medium of the computer screen.
I truly believe that words do help, a trouble shared is a trouble halved. You need to talk, and there are lots of us just waiting to talk to YOU.
